Best Buttercream Frosting Recipe for Sugar Cookies

Totally versatile frosting that can be used for frosting, piping, or literally just eating off a spoon.

Servings 2 dozen cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 4.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3-6 TBS milk
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla If you are not using almond extract, use 1 tsp vanilla.
  • 1.5 tsp almond extract THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT THE BEST!! You could also use 1/3 tsp each of vanilla, almond, and coconut extract.

Instructions
 

  • soften butter to room temperature
  • mix butter, powdered sugar, and 3 TBSP of milk with a stand mixer or hand mixer. If consistency it too thick, add 1 TBSP of milk at a time until you reach a mixable consistency.
  • add vanilla, almond, and any food coloring.
  • lick the beaters...you know you want to.
  • You can store leftover frosting in the fridge. Before trying to frost with leftover frosting, return frosting to room temperature.
