Sugar Cookie Frosting

As long as I can remember, my Granny made us heart shaped sugar cookies for Valentine’s Day. It was a fun tradition and always such a special treat. This year I am TRYING to add in some EXTRA fun for my kiddos since Covid has basically sucked all of the fun out of EVERYTHING. Sooooo I decided to dust off the cookie cutters and whip up a batch of Grandma’s Valentine cookies. I shared my Grandma June’s sugar cookie recipe a few months ago HERE, but since we all know that a cookie is JUST NOT A COOKIE without some yummy frosting…here comes THE BEST BEATER LICKING BUTTERCREAM FROSTING RECIPE that is PERFECT for sugar cookies!!

Tip: I use a combination of vanilla and almond extract. THIS is the secret sauce for cutting the sweetness and adding a little something special to your frosting. TRUST ME!! BUT if you are a tried and true vanilla lover, you can use a FULL teaspoon of vanilla instead of 1/2 of both vanilla and almond. ORRR if you are really feeling frisky, use 1/3 tsp each of vanilla, almond, and coconut extract…YUMM!! Or for winter cookies you could add some peppermint extract. ORRR for summer…lemon extract. You get the idea!!!

If you want some other yummy treats, you can try out my almond joy cookies HERE, or sugar cookie chex mix HERE!! Happy baking friends:) Jess
