  • Books to get you in the Christmas Spirit!!

Is it just me, or does December just make you wanna read ALL the Christmas books??? Sometimes I want to read true literature full of figurative language and deep symbolism…BUT sometimes I just need some mindless good old-fashioned fun romantic comedy. And THAT is where the CHRISTMAS ESCAPE book series fits in. If you like a good beach read/Hallmark movie type situation…this series has GOT you covered: nothing too deep, lots of funny dialogue, clean romance, and PLENTY of Christmas spirit!! There are 7 books, some better than others, but all with the same general rom/com vibe. Did I mention they are all free with Kindle Unlimited?? I honestly cannot…

  • Book Review: The Afterlife of Holly Chase

I am not even gonna pretend on this one. If you are only going to read ONE book this Christmas Season, it should be THIS one!! The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand is a modern CHRISTMAS CAROL retelling and I could NOT put it down!!! My homeschool group is learning about Dickens and A Christmas Carol this month, and so I just sorta FELL into this book by accident while searching for a book that would interest my high school girls. Before I even assigned pages to read, one student already finished the book AND LOVED IT!! And I downloaded it to pre-read before my students got it…

  • Book Review: The Winter Guest

Being a homeschool mom has many benefits, but one downside is my lack of solo time. I spend 24 hours a day with my kids…which is GREAT…but also often makes me wanna pull out all of my hair and hide in the pantry with a bag of chocolate chips. It also GREATLY limits my personal reading time. In the last year I have read LOTS of books aloud to Ethan about dragons and Camelot and talking mice. AND I have read Little House on the Prairie and Heidi again for the first time in YEARS. BUT at the end of the day, I was starting to feel the need for…

  • Love Inspired By Harlequin

This post may contain affiliate links. I receive books at no cost to preview, but the opinions shared are my own. I am a reader. I love to read JUST ABOUT anything. I actually got in trouble in Elementary for reading too far ahead in my reading book and AGAIN in High School for reading Ethan Frome in one night and telling the whole class how it ends. I cannot always help myself when I find a good book. I lean more often towards historical fiction and YA fantasy these days, but I also love a good romance. But it is not always easy to find a book that fits…

  • Cherry Picking

Phew…I took a bit of an impromptu Spring Break, and one week turned into two…and then it was HARD to get back into the swing of things. We are in the homestretch of homeschool for the year, and I am NOT gonna lie, I am ready to have a bit of free time each day to FINALLY tackle some of these projects. First up, clean the garage…who else needs a HUGE garage overhaul.??? Mine is BAD!!! Speaking of homeschool, I plan to do some reviews of this year’s curriculum, and then a sneak peak at what we have picked out for next year. I have not shared a TON about…

  • More books for the Jane Austen fan

I am not sure what has happened the last few months, but I have been on a TOTAL Jane Austen kick. If a book has a poor single woman and a wealthy but standoffish man…I am reading it…haha!! I just CANNOT help myself. I think it is all of the social distancing and sheltering in place. I am channeling my inner JANE. Last month I shared a few Jane Austen inspired books HERE and here are a few more books for the Jane Austen fan…you KNOW who you are!! First up…JANE AUSTEN IN LOVE. This one had me the MOMENT I saw that Jane Austen is actually IN the book.…

  • No Pain No Gaines…Because WHO doesn’t love Chip Gaines?!?!

I am 100 percent a Chip and Joanna Gaines fan. Not only their incredibly popular show, FIXER UPPER, or their undeniable talent for creating beauty, or even their amazing vision at Magnolia Market, but also CHIP AND JO…the people. They are just GOOD PEOPLE. I honestly think we could hang out and be best friends. I know that is what EVERY good stalker says, but hey, what famous Texan WOULDN’T want to come to small town Washington and hang out with a complete stranger??? All THAT to say…I REALLY admire Chip and Joanna, so when I was given the chance to receive an early copy of Chip Gaines’ new book…

  • Book Review: Relentless Solution Focus

I am usually not much of a self-help book reader, but if 2020/2021 has taught me ANYTHING, it is to expect the unexpected. I was gifted this book and was TOTALLY intrigued by the Subtitle…TRAIN YOUR MIND TO CONQUER STRESS, PRESSURE, AND UNDERPERFORMANCE. If there is ONE thing I feel on the daily, it is stress, pressure, and guilt. So I hopped right into reading Relentless Solution Focus by Dr. Jason Selk. RLS (Relentless Solution Focus) is actually less of a self help type book, and more of a plan for living a more action driven life. My favorite part of the book is when Dr. Selk states that we…
