The Widow Of Pale Harbor–book review

Every year when the nights get cooler and the leaves start to fall, I get the urge to cuddle up with a cozy blanket and a good book. Honestly, I am READY for some good old fashioned winter hibernation right about NOW…See ya’ll in the spring. I lucked out and received my copy of THE WIDOW OF PALE HARBOR by HESTER FOX right before leaving to Roche Harbor…sooooo I got to read ABOUT a pale harbor AT the harbor…tricky tricky!!
THE WIDOW OF PALE HARBOR has a bit of a gothic vibe and mixes a spooky harbor town, a twisted murderer, an accused witch, and a new minister with LOTS of secrets…all together into ONE big creepy mystery. AND as if that is not eerie enough, the murderer has a bit of an Edgar Allen Poe obsession and uses many of his famous gruesome stories as inspiration. So for those who want a little hint of THE RAVEN in their October to-read list, this might do the trick.
This one checked a lot of the boxes for me…suspense, interesting characters, intriguing setting, and of course a good widow/minister love story never hurts. It did, however, tend to lean more towards the romance and less towards the historical as a whole. And as far as love scenes go, it MOSTLY leaves everything to your imagination…but I probably won’t lend this one to my mom…just an FYI for those looking for a totally PG read.
