More books for the Jane Austen fan

I am not sure what has happened the last few months, but I have been on a TOTAL Jane Austen kick. If a book has a poor single woman and a wealthy but standoffish man…I am reading it…haha!! I just CANNOT help myself. I think it is all of the social distancing and sheltering in place. I am channeling my inner JANE. Last month I shared a few Jane Austen inspired books HERE and here are a few more books for the Jane Austen fan…you KNOW who you are!!

Jane Austen

First up…JANE AUSTEN IN LOVE. This one had me the MOMENT I saw that Jane Austen is actually IN the book. She is feeling the push towards marriage and decides to reach out to a witch to help her find her true love. The witch helps her…but unfortunately she also ends up time traveling to modern day. I loved Jane before, but imagining her taking on modern day LONDON just makes me adore her EVEN more. And the twist in this story…she DOES fall in love, but as she considers staying in the modern world, her books begin to disappear. She cannot be BOTH a feminist movement in the past and a wife in the present…but SHE has to decide. So cute.

Lies Jane Austen told me, was next in line. In this one, Emma (of course her name is Emma, what else would it be?) finds out her current boyfriend is NOT as serious about her as she thought when she arrives to surprise him and finds him with SOMEONE ELSE!! She is crushed, but decides to jump back into her corporate life and move on. The only problem…she is assigned a new consultant to help her launch a new business plan…and the consultant is her ex’s brother, Lucas. You can see where this one is going. This is a cute, simple, sweet little book that ANY Jane Austen fan can appreciate.

Next, ROAD TO ROSEWOOD. This is not a Jane Austen THEMED book, but has the same Regency Era romantic feel and fits RIGHT in with the rest. In Road to Rosewood, Lucy runs away from home and attempts to make her way back to her cousin’s dreamy country estate, Rosewood, for a visit. BUT of course her carriage is attacked by highwaymen (because what good story is complete without highwaymen??) In a story twist worthy of any Regency romance, the highwayman turns out to be an old friend from her youth and or course her childhood crush, Nicholas. Outlaws, illegitimate heirs, family secrets, and a duel…nothing was left out of this one!!

I already read A PROPER SCANDAL by Esther Hatch(you can check out that post HERE), and then moved RIGHT into A PROPER CHARADE. This was another cute simple sweet love story that I just CANNNOT get enough of. Lady Patience Kendrick decides to show her brother, who thinks she is only good for wearing pretty clothes and being decorative, that she can actually be useful. She runs away from her privileged life and heads off to become a maid at another estate where NOBODY will know here. She is a horrible maid, but is DETERMINED to succeed at showing her brother that she can succeed. Plot twist…the son of the master of the estate is dreamy and perfect and nice to her as the maid…you see where this is going. Plot twist number 2…as a maid, she is below HIS class. BUT in REAL life, she is too far above his class to be an appropriate match. my favorite part, this is a nice clean little romantic book that I feel 100 percent comfortable passing along to my teen daughter…that is NOT always the case.
