Have you ever seen something on Pinterest and thought…”hmmm I wonder if that really works?”…and then just gone along about your day and life?!?! Well somehow it is already August and I feel like 2020 has been the year of forgotten goals. SOOO I am going to take this opportunity to start fresh and make some new resolutions. As I was contemplating this, I decided I needed a word…something that would pop into my mind anytime I wanted to sit on the couch and watch Netflix and eat chocolate chips outta the bag. I google searched POWER words and decided on PROGRESS. August would be the month of progress. BUT then as I started to plan my month, my goals became more clear. What home-school curriculum are we using this year??
When I initially decided to home-school Ethan, I was SUPER overwhelmed by all of the curriculum options swirling around the internet. It seemed that EVERY one had good reviews and bad reviews, pluses and minuses. SOOOO when we first started, I chose to just patchwork a curriculum together to get us started. BUT soon I realized that winging it was NOT the answer. SO I jumped into researching again, and that is when I discovered THE GOOD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. I downloaded the free Language Arts files and after the FIRST lesson I knew that I had found the answer to WHAT HOME-SCHOOL CURRICULUM will work best for my family?!?…

Do you have your Christmas budget ready?? Last September I explained ALLLL about how I try to plan ahead by using sinking funds to be prepared for extra expenses, but what if it is now July and you DO NOT have sinking funds set aside for Christmas?? Why we decided to home-school
Let me just start off by saying that I TOTALLY understand the strange looks I receive when I say “I pulled my son out of public school this year and now we are home-schooling.” I get it. I WAS that person. I would have been at the VERY FRONT of the public school parade pointing at the home-school families and shaking my head. That is until my son needed me. He NEEDED me to step in and make a SUPER difficult decision FOR HIM. Let me start at the beginning. Ethan is a good kid. He is a delightful kid. He doesn’t get into trouble, cause problems, or push boundaries.…
