Patriotic Decor Inspiration
Holy Hannah how is it almost SUMMER!!! I honestly thought it was still EARLY MAY until I looked at an actual calendar. Memorial Day is creeping up and then BOOM…it will be Independence Day before we know it. SOOOOO it is time to pull out all of the RED, WHITE, AND BLUE and get our PATRIOT on!! If you are un-sure about where to start…I have a few of my FAVORITE bloggers here today to give us some Patriotic Decor Inspiration!!
First up, let’s take a little walk down memory lane to last summer at Orchard Slope.
First off, I started with a vintage flag. I grabbed this flag from Goodwill at LEAST 10 years ago and LOVE to throw it up every summer to make a big patriotic statement. The only thing that bothers me about it…it is not square. I have tried EVERY which way to hang it without it looking all wonky. BUT now I just embrace the wonky and hang that baby up. You can usually find flags at yard sales, estate sales, and vintage shops, but if you don’t want to wait or don’t enjoy the search, you can grab a lovely reproduction tea stained flag HERE for just $10!! AND I bet it would hang straight…haha!!! ANNDDD while we are talking about flags, I was told by MULTIPLE people that I had my small flag hanging the incorrect way. It needed to be flipped around. I changed it, but obviously NOT before this picture was snapped. I was not attempting to be disrespectful in any way and I am am thankful that people were nice enough to tell me that I had made a mistake.
I created an entire Amazon storefront full of patriotic items that I love…including shoes similar to these buffalo plaid cuties, little red trucks, flag pillows, red lanterns, flags, and more. Head over there for even more patriotic inspiration.
5 years ago when I started Instagram, I found my tribe. Many of the very first friends I made through social media are STILL some of my absolute favorite people EVER!! And on top of them all being amazing humans…they are also knock it out of the park talented. I am sooooo excited to share a few of these woman with you today because I KNOW you will love them as much as I do…or close to it at least. And I KNOW you will get some great patriotic decor inspiration from their amazin homes.
First up, meet Emily from the blog MY WEATHERED HOME. I always love to see what Emily finds when she goes out picking…she is the queen of vintage finds. Wanna see what I mean??
Amazing right?!?! I absolutely love the way she uses vintage pieces that are NOT technically patriotic in nature, and turns the entire collection into a gorgeous vignette. Those blue bottle are hands down my new obsession!! AND…you are in luck because Emily actually wrote an amazing blog post with NINE vintage patriotic decor ideas. She gives tips on what to look for while thrifting and how to use items you might already have around the house. And the best part…she shares TONS of pictures to inspire and help you create a gorgeous patriotic vignette of your own. Make sure you also head over to INSTAGRAM to follow along with My Weathered Home…because if you like her style for summer, just wait until you see fall…and Christmas…and EVERY SINGLE DAY!!
Next on our little tour through Jessica’s favorite people….Jenn from the blog Down Shiloh Road. Jenn has a way of taking her collections and using them in the most AMAZING WAYS!! Like her vintage thermoses…what a simple cute idea…but with a HUGE patriotic punch!!
Jenn has an amazing blog post all about HOW TO DECORATE FOR THE 4TH OF JULY (or Memorial Day if you are reading this today). She even shares a specific list of items to look for when thrifting or to use in a unique way to get that patriotic look…without going out and spending extra money. She is a good deal lover…like me…and I love seeing how she can change up the look of her entire house, just with a few beautifully chippy vintage pieces. Like that red and white scale…be still my heart!! Or how perfect is that red and white quilt?? Plus it can be used as an everyday piece, a Christmas quilt, or AN ACTUAL BLANKET and doesn’t have to be packed away for 300 days until summer comes back around again. Don’t forget to follow Jenn over on INSTAGRAM…she has the cutest baby chicks and the most AMAZING barn EVER!! Her feed is a scroll stopper EVERY DAY!!
Next on the inspiration train…Jordan from the blog Jordecor. Jordan is seriously my spirit animal. She can take items from the Target Dollar Spot and create an entire decorated front porch.
Jordan has a great post on RED WHITE AND BLUE PORCH DECOR where she even shows how to make a quick patriotic wreath from a pool noodle and a few items from the Dollar Spot. She is so stinking crafty!! You know I am all about keeping it thrifty and Jordan is THE BEST!! And she even has a Home Design Planner to help you get started on creating a home you love. SOOO fun. Don’t forget to head over to Jordecor on Instagram to see what crafty-ness she is up to today!!
