Helpful Hints for Pretzel Turtles:

  • Try to find Rolo candy that is already unwrapped. Usually, the unwrapped candies are found in the CANDY aisle…NOT the Christmas aisle. This speeds up the process SOOO much if you don’t have to unwrap 50 candies individually.
  • During the Holidays, there are often fun Christmas shaped pretzels like bells, stars, and trees. This makes the candies super fun and festive. ORRRR you can grab square pretzels too…this makes a nice CLEAN looking turtle. BUTTTT I almost always miss the fun shapes and cannot find the square ones, so I use the regular small twists. They still taste super YUMMYYY!!
  • As a nut free option (or an option for kids who do not like nuts) use Holiday M&Ms on the top. Just replace the pecans with M&Ms. These are actually SUPER cute and sometimes it is fun to make some of each type.
  • Don’t stack these candies if you plan to store them at room temperature. They will get soft and melt together. Store them in an airtight container in one layer.

Pretzel Turtles {Only 3 Ingredients!!}

Made with only 3 ingredients, these are ALWAYS a hit around the Holidays.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Servings 50

Ingredients

  • 50 Rolos candy (unwrapped) HINT: You can often find the bag of UN-WRAPPED Rolos on the cany aisle…not the Christmas aisle. It is so much easier if you don't have to unwrap 50 Rolos.
  • 1 bag small pretzels Hint: At Christmas, you can often find pretzels in Christmas shapes. This can add a fun aspect to this recipe. OR you can use the square pretzels. I usually just grab what I can find and use the regular small twist.
  • 50 Pecan Halves Hint: For nut free or more kid friendly version, you can add a Christmas M&M instead of a Pecan. Or do half and half.

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees F.
  • Unwrap your Rolos (if you can find them un-wrapped…it makes this soooo much quicker).
  • Cover your cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • Line your cookie sheet with pretzels.
  • Place one un-wrapped Rolo on the middle of each pretzel.
  • Put your pan into a 200 degree oven for 4-5 minutes. You want the Rolos to be soft, but NOT melted.
  • Place one pecan half on the top of each Rolo and push SLIGHTLY.
  • Let cool for at least one hour before packaging up…or place them into the fridge or freezer to harden up a bit. Best served at room temperature.
  • Store in an airtight container. This is not really necessary though…cause they will disappear FAST!!! 🙂
