  • Firefly Lane On Netflix

Today is the day!! There is a new show on Netflix based on the Kristin Hannah book Firefly Lane and it comes out today. I had the wonderful opportunity to preview the first 2 episodes last week and binged right through them…now I am ready for the rest of the season today!! Don’t expect me to be a useful member of society again until I have watched ALL of the episodes first!! BUT I know it is SUPER hard to know if a Netflix show is right for YOU, so here are my thoughts on Netflix’s new show, Firefly Lane, to try to help you decide. Disclaimer… Ok, so to…

  • Glitch by Laura Martin

All opinions remain my own. We recently took a LONGGG road-trip to Yellowstone, and I was SUPER worried about the hours and hours we would be spending in the car. We ended up driving almost 2 thousand miles in 4 days, so all of the worry was NOT wasted…it was A LOT OF DRIVING TIME!! Luckily I downloaded a few books to try out on Audible before we left…and HANDS DOWN our favorite was GLITCH by Laura…

  • The Dino Files…perfect for my reluctant reader

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. All opinions remain my own. Being the mom of a reluctant reader can be tough. Being a READER mom to a reluctant reader can be ALMOST heart wrenching. WHY oh WHY would anyone NOT want to read books??? It is also hard not to feel guilt, anger, denial…well let’s just say ALL emotions are pretty fair game. Did I read to him enough as a baby?? Did I let him watch too many cartoons. Should I have…

  • Virgin River on Netflix

If you are a Robyn Carr fan, hold on to your hats because her beloved VIRGIN RIVER series has arrived on Netflix. I was not familiar with the books, but I received a copy of VIRGIN RIVER by Robyn Carr from the publisher and decided to jump right in and see what all the fuss is about. Since I am a reader at heart, let’s talk about the book first…although I have plenty to say about the show as well…so stay tuned. VIRGIN RIVER begins as Mel Monroe arrives in the remote and rugged forest town of Virgin River (population 600) to start her new life. She leaves her old…

  • The Warrior Maiden

I received a copy of THE WARRIOR MAIDEN free from NetGalley, but have given an honest review based on my opinions. There are affiliate links in this post. If clicked, I may receive monetary compensation at no extra cost to the reader. You know when they say NOT to judge a book by its cover… WELLLLL I say that is crapola. I can NEVER read a book with an ugly cover and I will ALWAYS judge a book by what is on the outside…I just cannot help myself. And let’s just take a moment to appreciate the gorgeous cover of THE WARRIOR MAIDEN by Melanie Dickerson….AHHHH!! How could I not…

  • Book Review: The Alice Network

There are two kinds of flowers when it comes to women…the kind that sit safe in a beautiful vase, or the kind that survive in any conditions…..even in evil. The Alice Network by Kate Quinn Since reading THE THINGS WE CANNOT SAY and THE TATTOOIST OF AUSCHWITZ, I have wanted to read EVERYTHING and ANYTHING related to WWII. I REALLY go in phases when I read…I guess I am in my WAR phase this year. All the way last year, one of my sweet IG friends recommended THE ALICE NETWORK, and I finally got around to crossing it off my TBR list and I am SOOO glad I did. THE ALICE NETWORK…

  • Book Review: Cilka’s Journey

Since reading THE TATTOOIST OF AUSCHWITZ (see my review here) I have been devouring ANY and all WWII books that I can get my hands on. It is just such an emotional part of our history and I find myself drawn to the individual stories of the survivors and their strength to endure in the most horrible conditions. CILKA’S JOURNEY by Heather Morris is based on the true-life journey of Cilka Klein and her life AFTER surviving the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. We first meet Cilka in THE TATTOOIST OF AUSCHWITZ, when, at the age of 16, she arrives at the camp. Cilka is beautiful and strong and attracts the attention…

  • Book Review: EVERLESS by Sara Holland

You know that old adage, TIME IS MONEY?? Well in the book EVERLESS by Sara Holland, time actually IS money!! Jules lives in the kingdom of Sempera where time is used as currency and only the aristocracy have enough of it. When money is owed, the TIME is extracted from the debtor in the form of blood. Then the iron is rendered from the blood and becomes iron currency. These irons can then be consumed, giving the person MORE time. Both cool and slightly revolting right?? Of course, there is a great discrepancy between the wealthy who have ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD, and those who are LITERALLY giving…

  • The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Cilka’s Journey

I remember learning about the Holocaust as a young child and not being able to comprehend the atrocities of such a horrible event in history. And now, as an adult, I don’t think my mind is ANY MORE capable of comprehending it. But what draws me into books like this, is the feeling of HOPE…that even under the ABSOLUTE worst of circumstances, the human spirit can survive. “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” is hands down one of my favorite books of this year because of the undying hope and love…even through the horrors of WWII. The “Tattooist of Auschwitz” by Heather Morris is based on the the true-life experiences of Lale…

  • The Widow Of Pale Harbor

The Widow Of Pale Harbor–book review

I was given a review copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review, but the opinions expressed are my own. Every year when the nights get cooler and the leaves start to fall, I get the urge to cuddle up with a cozy blanket and a good book. Honestly, I am READY for some good old fashioned winter hibernation right about NOW…See ya’ll in the spring. I lucked out and received my copy of THE WIDOW OF PALE HARBOR by HESTER FOX right before leaving to Roche Harbor…sooooo I got to read ABOUT a pale harbor AT the harbor…tricky tricky!! THE WIDOW OF PALE HARBOR…
